Love at First Bark

Love at First Bark

True love doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to be true.

Dyan Evans is reluctant to return to Dogwood, Colorado where Jack Donovan broke her heart nine years ago. But she’s inherited the family realty business and is determined to make a success of it. With any luck, she can avoid seeing him altogether.

Unfortunately, fate has other plans. Jack has grown into a handsome, caring man, and now works for the Dogwood police department, which she is forced to deal with all too often as she attracts funny, oddball situations like a magnet. Though her feelings for him start to stir again, she backs off when she learns he is engaged to her high-school nemesis, Carolyn.

Jack isn’t sure how he let himself get manipulated into this engagement with Carolyn, but when Dyan shows up in his life again, he realizes how much he still cares for his high-school sweetheart. He has to break it off with Carolyn before he can pursue Dyan, but he doesn’t want to hurt Carolyn’s feelings. Rock, meet hard place. Maybe he can convince Carolyn breaking the engagement is her idea.

Despite Dyan’s frequent misadventures as a real estate broker, and the chaos they often cause, Jack feels the chemistry between them grow. But his principles won’t allow him to pursue Dyan until he’s a free man. If that ever happens, can he convince Dyan to let the past go and plan a future with him?

Love at First Bark is a stand-alone sweet romance, third in the Dogwood series (may be read in any order). If you like reading about second chances, matchmaking dogs, and humorous situations, you’ll enjoy this book.

About the Book
Details
I borrowed this through KU. It's another second chance type of story. This author's characters seem like your next-door neighbor, and there's always a dog, usually, that dog is a match-maker. I have read several of them and loved them and I intend to read all of the Dogwood Series and then start on the other series that have been written by this set of authors.
After starting to read #2 in the Dogwood series, I almost didn't go on. Sit, Stay, Love is so stupid and the woman abuses the dog by putting bleach on its face! That being said, I did read this one and loved it! Both the characters, Dyan and Jack, are likable and you will root for them to be together. The sweet dog Dyan rescues adds to the story. Even Carolyn does something so nice that you will like her, too!
I loved the story and the characters. The things Dyan could get into were real situations that made you believe in her and the story. I also loved Jack and was surprised by Carolyn. Overall great book, off to read the next one.
Very charming! Easy to enjoy, and Dyan is so relatable, and the situations she finds herself in. Great read.
I was given this book for a honest review. It was a light quick read. I enjoyed the book but there was a part of book that seemed fragmented. That is why I gave a 4 stars not 5. But I would be interested in reading more from this author.
